Alpaca Treks

Some experiences in life are unforgettable: an alpaca or llama trek at Lilymoore Farm is one of them. (Ages 9+)

Spending time with an alpaca or llama is one of those rare experiences people remember long after the day is over. On an Alpaca or Llama Trek at Lilymoore Farm (ages 9+), you will be guided through open meadows and quiet woodland paths while walking alongside your own gentle animal. The pace is relaxed, the setting is beautiful, and the connection you feel with these curious and peaceful companions makes the experience both fun and unexpectedly meaningful.

Our treks are intentionally small so each guest has time to enjoy the moment, take photos, and truly experience the farm in a personal way. You can join a small group trek or reserve a Private Trek for your family or friends, creating a memory that feels special and unhurried. Many visitors choose to add a farm tour before or after their walk to meet more of the animals who call Lilymoore home.

Located just 1.5 hours from New York City near Poughkeepsie, Lilymoore Farm has been recognized as TripAdvisor’s #1 Thing to Do in Pleasant Valley, NY. Reservations are required and treks often sell out, so advance booking is strongly recommended.

How many people can a Private Trek have?  We offer Private alpaca and llama treks for up to 15 people. Please contact us to book groups of more than 6 people.
Do you have to be 9 or older?  Yes, we require walkers to be ages 9 or older for safety reasons.
Can I request a specific alpaca or llama? You can as long as they are one of the camelids that go on walks.  We will try to make it happen for you.  As you know, our alpacas and llamas choose whether they want to go on a walk.  They let us know if they are feeling up to doing it.  (EX:  I don’t know if they have a headache or sore foot).  So we cannot guarantee a specific animal but certainly will do our best.
Can I buy a ticket for a child and just have them walk alongside me?  No, our treks are for ages 9+.  However, younger children love our Farm Tours – this is a great option for a family to do.
Can I walk alongside?  No – each person gets their own alpaca to hang out with and believe us – an alpaca is not something you want to share.  🙂 It is a special time with an adorable alpaca and therefore we only allow one person per alpaca.   Each participant must purchase a ticket and be part of the group.
Can a minor walk without an adult?  No, all walkers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a ticket holding adult
Can I hold a child and walk an alpaca?  For safety reasons, we cannot allow this.  Please be aware that if a minor is accompanying you when you show up for the trek you will be unable to participate in the trek and will not be eligible for a refund.
Can I bring my dog (any pet)?  As much as we love dogs, there are no pets allowed on the property except service dogs.  You are not allowed to leave them in the car.  Please do not bring your dog.  If you do  you will not be able to participate in the trek and would not be eligible for a refund.
What happens if I cannot make it or am late:   If you are too late (more than 15 minutes) you will miss out on the trek.  Please plan on coming early.  See our cancellation policy in the footer of our website.
Is professional photography allowed?  We have special programs for professionals that are not part of our treks and farm tours.  Please contact us regarding professional photography.
Can I book a private trek ?  Absolutely! We have a variety of options for private treks on our calendar.
Can I book a Private Trek during the week? We have Private trek options on Thursdays and Fridays beginning in May.
What should I wear?  Please wear shoes that are appropriate for walking through trails and fields such as sneakers and hiking boots. Pants are recommended. Sunscreen and bug spray are your friends.
What happens if it is bad weather? Please see our cancellation and weather policy. It is under contacts on our menu.
